Acknowledgement Patterns in Research Articles: a Bibliometric Study based on Journal of Natural Rubber Research 1986-1997

    Get PDF
Analyses the acknowledgements included in the research articles and short communications published in Journal of Natural Rubber Research (1986-1997) in respect of types, frequency of occurrence, individuals acknowledged, etc. Results indicate that 74% items contain acknowledgements; an average acknowledgement per item is 2.2; the most common type of acknowledgments relates to technical support. Peer interactive communication accounts for 44% of the total acknowledgements. The result of the study substantiates the earlier findings that a small number of individuals are highly acknowledged and the rest are acknowledged infrequently

The permutation action of finite symplectic groups of odd characteristic on their standard modules

Motivated by the incidence problems between points and flats of a symplectic polar space, we study a large class of submodules of the space of functions on the standard module of a finite symplectic group of odd characteristic. Our structure results on this class of submodules allow us to determine the pp-ranks of the incidence matrices between points and flats of the symplectic polar space. In particular, we give an explicit formula for the pp-rank of the generalized quadrangle W(3,q){\rm W}(3,q), where qq is an odd prime power. Combined with the earlier results of Sastry and Sin on the 2-rank of W(3,2t){\rm W}(3,2^t), it completes the determination of the pp-ranks of W(3,q){\rm W}(3,q).Comment: 22 page

Elastic and inelastic breakup of deuterons with energy below 100 MeV

We present calculations of deuteron elastic and inelastic breakup cross sections and angular distributions at deuteron energies below 100 MeV obtained using the post-form DWBA approximation. The elastic breakup cross section was extensively studied in the past. Very few calculations of inelastic breakup have been performed, however. We also analyze the angular momentum - energy distributions of the cross section for formation of the compound nucleus after inelastic breakup.Comment: 7 page

    An axially-symmetric Newtonian Boson Star

    Get PDF
A new solution to the coupled gravitational and scalar field equations for a condensed boson field is found in Newtonian approximation. The solution is axially symmetric, but not spherically symmetric. For N particles the mass of the object is given by M=Nm−0.02298N3GN2m5M = Nm - 0.02298 N^3 G_N^2 m^5, to be compared with M=Nm−0.05426N3GN2m5M = Nm - 0.05426 N^3 G_N^2 m^5 for the spherically symmetric case.Comment: 4 pages, figures available on reques

    Spreading-resistance temperature sensor on silicon-on-insulator

    Get PDF
A spreading-resistance temperature (SRT) sensor is fabricated on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate and achieves promising characteristics as compared with similar SRT sensor on bulk silicon wafer. Moreover, experimental results show that the maximum operating temperature of thin-film (1.2 μm) SOI SRT sensor can reach 450 °C, much higher than 350 °C of thick-film (10 μm) SOI SRT sensor under the same current level. With complete oxide isolation, this sensor structure can be potentially used in low-power integrated sensors operating at temperatures as high as 450 °C.published_or_final_versio

An Update of Weed Flora of Vıneyards ın Northwestern Turkey

The weed flora of vineyards in northwestern Turkey was determined in a survey carried out in 93 vineyards. Total of 68 species 53 dicotyledonous and 11 monocotyledonous belonging to 32 families were identified in grape growing areas. The majority of weed species were annual species with different vegetation periods. The dominant weed species in the region were Capsella bursa pastoris, Convolvulus arvensis, Senecio vulgaris, Stellaria media, Sorghum halepense, Euphorbia helioscopia. Meanwhile frequent families were Poaceae, Asteraceae, Brassicaceae, Fabaceae, Geraniaceae, Lamiaceae, Polygonaceae and Euphorbiaceae
